Before we begin, I wanted to know more about you. Your homework, due no later than Monday, the 10th of September, is to fill out this survey about yourself.
There are only 3 rules to follow in this class:
There are only 3 rules to follow in this class:
- Respect - Show respect for your teacher, your classmates, and yourselves!!! This means no talking while others are talking. This means no interrupting. If you have something to say, raise your hand and we'll get to it. Respect the opinions of your classmates as you would like your opinions to be respected.
- Do Your Work - I want you to succeed. You want you to succeed. Everyone wants you to succeed. The best way to do this in physics is to practice and do your work. Practice makes perfect and that's doubly so in physics. Try your best. Do your work.
- Honesty - Honesty is something I value. If you are honest with me, I can help you. Honesty means asking questions when you don't understand something. Honesty also means absolutely no cheating. Cheating is never ok in my class! This is so important, that I will state it again: Cheating is never ok in my class! Once more with Caps Lock: CHEATING IS NEVER OK IN MY CLASS! By cheating, I don't get a fair assessment of how you are doing.
There are a few things I expect from you and a few things you should expect from me. I list off some mutual responsibilities in this document over here. The syllabus for this class is here. This is what we'll cover on Thursday. On Friday, we will be reading what Richard Feynman has to say about physics.
