Weekend Homework & More on Mercury

This is your homework:

Do the multiple choice questions 1-34.

This will be due next Friday, but that doesn't mean do it Thursday night. Pace yourself. There are 7 days in a week, try 5 multiple choice problems a night so that if you have questions, you can either post them here or ask them in class.

If you want to read more about the discovery of ice water on Mercury, here's a link to NASA's press release.

FBD Quiz Tomorrow!!!

In preparation for the quiz tomorrow, do Problem 37 in the chapter problems. Here is the actual problem:
I have it transcribed here:

A hockey puck slides on a rough horizontal surface with a constant velocity. Draw a free-body diagram for the puck and compare the magnitudes and the directions of all the forces exerted on it.

This is how I want every problem done on the quiz.

More FBD Homework and Quiz Thursday!!!

I posted the homework last night at 7:30, so I would like to give you another chance to complete the homework. I will be checking both Problems 35 and 36 tomorrow. That means tonight's homework is numbers 35 and 36:

1.     A crane lifts a load at a constant speed. Draw a free-body diagram for the load and compare the magnitudes and directions of the all forces.

2.     A crate is accelerated at a constant rate along a rough horizontal floor. Draw a free-body diagram for the crate and compare all the forces exerted on the crate.

Tonight's homework is to make an FBD for the following problem:

A crane lifts a load at a constant speed. Draw a free-body diagram for the load and compare the magnitudes and directions of the all forces.

We will go over this tomorrow.

This is number 36 on the Chapter Problems.

The Next Unit: Dynamics!!!

Tomorrow we will be starting a new unit, Dynamics. This deals with forces and vectors, so its a lot of geometry, but it will use the formulas for kinematics as well. Here is the video we will be watching tomorrow.

We will be doing a few virtual labs on this as well.

All the homework will be from the following documents:

Multiple Choice Practice
Free Response Practice

For tonight (Thrsday night), the homework is Multiple Choice 1-6.
