Today's Lab

Today's lab will be using a Gravity Force Simulator (click below to access it).

Gravity Force Lab
Click to Run

We will be using the worksheet along with it. Complete the worksheet and plot the results in Excel.

Your homework is to complete the worksheet and graph your results. You will also need to explain how your results conformed or did not conform to the Law of Universal Gravitation.

Space Station Update!!!

Your official check-ins are tomorrow!!!

Your presentations will be on Monday and Tuesday!!! (Which group goes when will be decided by lottery. Be prepared on Monday!!!)

I will be filming your presentations, so make it good! I want to put a compilation of the presentations up on this site!!!

Space Station Project

Your goal (this is homework for tomorrow) is to design a space station with your team. The space station must simulate gravity in at least part of it!!! The homework for tomorrow:

Sketch a blueprint or what your space station will look like.

Explain how the simulated gravity works.

EACH TEAM MEMBER NEEDS TO DO THIS!!!

Also, if you did not get it yet:

Centripetal Force Formula

This is the video explaining the formula that we saw in class today.

Homework for over the weekend:

What is the acceleration of an object that has a velocity of 37 m/s
and is moving in a circle of radius 45m?

An object is experiencing a centripetal acceleration of 36 m/s2
while traveling in a circle of radius 15 m. What is its velocity?

A 6.8 kg object is experiencing a net force of 135 N while traveling
in a circle at a velocity of 45 m/s. What is the radius of its motion?

Centripetal Force and Carnivals!!!

First thing is first... I would like to wish a very happy 121st birthday to JRR Tolkien!!!

File:JRRT logo.svg

He is the writer of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit!!!

We have copies of the Lord of the Rings in the class and I would highly recommend borrowing it from me to read!

And now back to physics...

The above is a stunt that two carnival workers tried.
We viewed this in class.

The above is another example of the application of circular motion.

Tonight's homework is to come up with the formula for centripetal force. If you cannot... Look it up!

Centripetal Motion

This is the extended clip of Leonard demonstrating centripetal acceleration with an olive.

Your homework is:

Write down what factors you think affect Centripetal Force.
